CarHub Barbados

Buyer's & Seller's Guide

Everything you need to buy or sell a vehicle in Barbados — step-by-step, with ready-to-use document templates.

How It Works

1

Find Your Vehicle & Agree on a Price

Browse listings, inspect the vehicle in person, and negotiate a price. A signed receipt or provisional Letter of Sale protects both parties and confirms the agreement.

2

Get a Vehicle Valuation Certificate

Obtain a Vehicle Valuation Certificate from a licensed dealership or authorised mechanic. This is required for insurance purposes and for registering the title transfer.

3

Obtain Insurance — Get a Cover Note

Contact your insurer and provide the Letter of Sale, valuation certificate, your driver's licence, and national ID. They will issue a Cover Note so you can legally drive while your full policy is prepared.

4

Get the Vehicle Weighed at the BLA Weighbridge

Take the vehicle to the BLA Weighbridge at The Pine, St. Michael with a full tank of fuel. You will receive a Weight Certificate required for registration.

Cost: BDS $25 · Full tank required · Location: The Pine, St. Michael

5

Roadworthy Certificate (vehicles 10+ years old)

If the vehicle is ten or more years old you must obtain a Roadworthy or Inspection Certificate from an authorised garage before the BRA will process the registration transfer.

6

File the Transfer at the BRA Portal

Visit portal.bra.gov.bb and submit all documents: Letter of Sale, valuation certificate, weight certificate, insurance Cover Note, national ID, and roadworthy certificate (if applicable). Pay the registration fee online.

Fee: BDS $400 · portal.bra.gov.bb

7

Collect Your Registration Card & Sticker

Once the transfer is approved, collect your registration card (pink slip) and affix the new licence sticker to your number plate. The vehicle is now legally registered in your name.
